NetSuite 2024.1 Release Notes

Table of Contents

Note: Periodic upgrades to the application are included in the 2024.1 release. This release’s features and improvements are dependent on NetSuite 2023.1. This release has to be applied to a NetSuite account that is 2024.1.

 

Following table content major release list:

 

  1. Accounting

  • Revenue Recognition Field Mapping: New optional fields have been added, including Transaction Type, Custom Form, Start/End Date, and an Automatically Update Target Field Value checkbox. Field map import/export functionality is supported via CSV.
  • Deleted Budgets: Users can now view deleted budgets in SuiteAnalytics.
  • Advanced Localization Features:
    • ALF Invoice templates now include QR codes for enhanced data accessibility.
    • Multi-language support for invoices, sales orders, and credit memos.
    • Custom translations up to 4000 characters are allowed.
  • Electronic Bill of Lading: Users can post electronic bills of lading.
  • Tax and Expense Bills: Posting period alignment is now supported for tax assessments.
  • India Localization:
    • New languages and file formats for TDS and GST reports.
    • SuiteTax Reports SuiteApp v5.00.0 introduced.

  1. Accounting Setup and Maintenance

  • New Text Enhance Preferences Page: NetSuite’s new Text Enhance tool helps you write business content by using generative AI. It can assist you with content creation and refinement and determine the ideal duration for your needs.
  • Only available to assist with content in English.
  • All SuiteCommerce, SuitePeople, and Inventory customers can access it.
  • Available to any person who has access to a page with Text Enhance available can use it.

 

  1. Authentication

     

  • End of Support for SMS/Voice 2FA: Effective March 1, 2024, users must switch to alternative authentication methods.
  • SuiteSignOn Deprecation: Support for SuiteSignOn in non-production accounts ends in 2025.1, with phase-out testing planned.

  1. Banking

     

  • Payment Automation: Enhancements include vendor prepayment support, payment status tracking with visual indicators, automation of transaction fees, and the ability to reprocess payments without manual voiding.
  • Vendor Prepayment Support: The Payment Automation SuiteApp now allows you to plan and execute vendor prepayments.
  • Payment Status Tracking: To verify the status of the payments, you may now use the visual status tracker included in the Bill Payment record.
  • Ability to Reprocess Payments: Users can now reprocess these payments in the latest version. It is no longer necessary to manually void the payment and start over.

 

  1. Commerce

     

  • Website Performance: SEO improvements via user agent detection.
  • Domain Management: DNS verification status added for better domain setup monitoring.
  • SSL for Email Campaigns: Enhanced security features for email campaigns.

  1. CSV Import

     

  • Support for importing Revenue Recognition Field Maps.
  • Work Order Import is enabled when Work Order and Advanced BOM features are active.

  1. Employee Management

     

  • Benefits Tracking: Saved searches now restricted to Admin and HR Generalist roles.
  • ACA Reporting: Version 1.11.4 includes new permissions and help videos.
  • SuitePeople Workforce Management Enhancements:Workforce Management’s Meal and Rest Break Premiums and SuitePeople Workforce Management are now accessible through the marketplace.
  • Permission Update for Affordable Care Act (ACA) Reporting SuiteApp Custom

Records – Updates to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Reporting SuiteApp version 1.11.4 include improvements for custom records that need extra authorization to be added to SuiteApp-used custom roles.

  1. Field Service Management

     

  • Scheduler Improvements: Drag-and-drop job assignment with availability views.
  • Mobile App: Field technicians can access job details, inventory, and customer history on the go.
  • Inventory Management: Directly associate fieldwork data with sales orders and invoices.
  • Billing Management: Sales orders and invoices can be immediately linked to fieldwork data, such as components and materials used, to ensure accurate billing.

 

  1. Inventory Management

     

  • Supply Planning: Date-based view enhancements and additional filtering for wave release schedules.
  • Warehouse and Quality Management: Updates include enhanced receipt quarantine workflows, preserved quality results for lot and serial numbers, and smarter count preferences.

  1. Item Record Management

 

Support for Date Formats in Lot Number Date Elements:

 

  • The Quick Response (QR) code is now part of the ALF Invoice PDF/HTML Template. Through information access through scanning, QR codes improve data accessibility.
  • Accounts with up to 250 subsidiaries can now be used on the Customize Document Template page.
  • To add custom translations to any subsidiary notes, a new subtab called Notes has been introduced to the Customize Document Template > Labels and Notes subtab.

 

  1. Manufacturing

     

  • Costed BOM SuiteApp: Introduced cost variance analysis to measure work order performance and prevent cost overruns.
  • Available to Build (ATB): Calculates ATB values for assembly/kit items, displays on Sales Order and Item 360 dashboards.
  • Change to Assembled Costs Subtab Name: Top level Costs in the Costed Bill of Materials SuiteApp is the new name for the Assembled Costs subtab on the Costed Bill of Materials page.
  • Supply 360 SuiteApp Enhancements: To load updated values or data for the presently selected location and date range corresponding to the selected subtab, you can now refresh the Supply 360 page.
  • Available To Build SuiteApp Now Available : Consider either the top level or all layers of the Bill of Materials (BOM) when calculating the Available to Build (ATB) value for assembly and kit items.

 

  1. Order Management

     

  • SuiteBilling Uplift Pricing: Uplifts can now be applied mid-term or during subscription renewal.
  • Discount Tracking: Additional fields added for better charge record management.
  • Delta Charges: Improved handling for quantity changes in service periods.
  • Commit Plus Overage for Prospective Merge: The Create Revenue Element for Subscription Revision choice and the potential merging are now compatible with Commit Plus overage.

  1. SuiteAnalytics

     

  • Latest ODBC drivers available for Windows/Linux.
  • New calculated measures, pivot grid enhancements, and SuiteAnalytics Warehouse single sign-on introduced.
  • Workbook Dataset Definitions can be exported to SuiteQL.
  • The Analytics Data Source has a new record type available.
  • Add NetSuite Analytics Warehouse Visualizations to your dashboard.
  • Use Single Sign-On to access the NetSuite Analytics Warehouse.

  1. SuiteApps

     

  • Accounting SuiteApps: Fixed Asset Management and Benchmark 360 enhancements.
  • Compliance 360 SuiteApp: New version includes refined KPI dashboards, audit documentation support, and real-time monitoring.
  • Inventory Management SuiteApps: Enhancements include better integration with Advanced Manufacturing Tablet and COA updates.
  • Quality Management Enhancements : The Quality Management SuiteApp enables you to use Quality features, such as Skip Lot or Sampling to inspect the inventory produced through Advanced Manufacturing Tablet.
  • Enhanced Receipt Quarantine Workflow v2 : The Enhanced Receipt Quarantine process can now be started from the specification level quality status of each lot and serial number.
  • Quality Management Enhancements: Inspection queues cannot be created with Quality Management 2024.1 when a work order completion transaction was generated with zero quantity.
  • Displaying URLs in Columns of Data Tables : You can add columns to Data Table components that show URLs to other pages, websites, or NetSuite records. You can display an image file from your file cabinet by using the link.
  • Schedule Count Review Data Processing : In a substantially shorter amount of time, the script retrieves the count review data and presents it on the website in accordance with your specified timetable.


Bundle Support During Release Phasing

 

The bundle support offered during 2024.1’s phasing is in line with that of earlier releases. Some accounts continue to use 2023.2 while other accounts are upgraded to 2024.1 throughout the 2024.1 phasing.

It is possible to install bundles created with 2023.2 in accounts that are currently using 2024.1.

The following restrictions apply when installing bundles created with 2024.1 in accounts that are still using 2023.2

  1. SuiteBuilder and SuiteCloud

  • SuiteBuilder: Updates to email and PDF template editors, and deprecation of Record Customization (Beta).
  • SuiteCloud SDK: Visual Studio Code extension and improved dependency handling introduced.
  • Record Customization (Beta) Is No Longer Supported: The Beta version of Record Customization is no longer available. The NetSuite Help Center no longer contains any relevant help topics.
  • Changes to the Editor for Email Templates and Advanced PDF/HTML Templates: Advanced PDF/HTML templates and email templates now have an enhanced editor user interface. The editor’s features and functionality remain unchanged; the changes are purely aesthetic.
  • Circular Dependencies Are No Longer Logged as Warnings When There Are No Errors : When SDF custom objects reference one another in a way that establishes direct dependence, circular dependencies are identified.


Bundle Support During Release Phasing

 

The bundle support offered during 2024.1’s phasing is in line with that of earlier releases. Some accounts continue to use 2023.2 while other accounts are upgraded to 2024.1 throughout the 2024.1 phasing.

It is possible to install bundles created with 2023.2 in accounts that are currently using 2024.1.

The following restrictions apply when installing bundles created with 2024.1 in accounts that are still using 2023.2:

  1. SuiteScript

 

Changes to External Suitelet URLs

  • Updated External URLs (using &ns-at= parameter) for Suitelets available without login, effective May 9, 2024.
  • Old URLs will work temporarily; update to new URLs promptly to avoid broken links.
  • Impacted Areas:
    • Hard-coded URLs in scripts, HTML files, script parameters, and external systems.
    • Auto-resolve URLs using url.resolveScript(options) in trusted contexts remain unaffected.

 

Changes to url.resolveScript(options) and https.requestSuitelet(options)

  • From July 30, 2024, returning external URLs via url.resolveScript(options) will require authenticated sessions.
  • Review scripts with returnExternalUrl: true to ensure they are used in trusted contexts to avoid errors.

 

Validation Check for “Hide in SuiteBundle” Preference

  • Starting June 2024:
    • Client script files with “Hide in SuiteBundle” enabled will receive validation errors during creation/update.
    • Scripts referencing files with this preference enabled will also fail validation.
    •  

Removal of Ext JS Library

  • Ext JS library will be removed before 2025.
  • Customizations using this unsupported library must switch to an external instance or refactor code to avoid issues.

 

  1. SuiteTalk Web Services Integration

  • REST APIs are now generally available, with deprecated beta features removed.
  • SOAP schema browser and Araxis Merge diff files provided for endpoint comparisons.
  • Situations where url is used to resolve the URL automatically.As long as the Suitelet is in a trustworthy context, resolveScript(options) is unaffected.
  • There are several locations where hard-coded URLs can be found: Within your account’s HTML files or script files Links on your website Script parameters
  • Outside systems that collect data or initiate actions.

  1. Taxation

NetSuite Taxation Updates in 2024.1
  • SuiteTax Now Generally Available: SuiteTax is no longer hidden and can now be enabled by administrators at Setup > Company > Enable Features > Tax subtab. Applies to the entire account (not individual subsidiaries) and cannot be reverted once enabled.

User Interface Enhancements
  • NetSuite Guided Learning: Available in all production accounts with 350+ guides in 24 languages. Provides contextual step-by-step instructions for various tasks.

  • Text Enhance: AI-powered tool to create and refine business content within NetSuite.

  • Favorites in Dropdown Lists: Mark up to 5 favorite items in fields like Customer, Add Multiple, and Items. Enable at Set Preferences > General > Allow Favorites in Dropdowns.

  • Page Search Enhancements: Collapse or expand Global and Current Page Results. Easily toggle between “Show more” and “Show less” results.

  • Vendors, Purchasing, and Receiving: Bill Capture Enhancements, SuiteProcurement Updates

  1. User Interface

  • Guided Learning: More than 350 guides are now available in 24 languages.

  • Favorites in Dropdowns: Users can select up to five favorite items for easier navigation.

  • Page Search Enhancements: Improved usability with collapsible sections.
